I've designed hundreds of newsletters, using my own or client-provided art and logos, and in various styles from a more casual newsletter using clip art to a slick professional look with stock or custom photos. Illustration, photo editing, interviews, soliciting content, page layout and processing a file for print production or electronic delivery - I can do all or some of this, or provide content and editorial services, working with your graphic designer.
The Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) funded the GIRLSPEAK grant application submitted by the Institute for Substance Abuse Studies (ISAS) at the University of Virginia. This prevention program aimed at middle school girls ran successfully in 6 local middle schools (Walton, Henley, Louisa, Nelson, Orange and Buford) for a period of 3 years. I assisted in developing the project and writing the grant for ISAS.
I can provide quick, simple event flyers, posters, postcards, or brochures (and other formats from mouse-pad to refrigerator magnet). For these you might choose to have me create an original illustration (pen and ink, charcoal, lino block print), hand lettering (as in the logo for the "Violence and the Cultural Imagination" lecture series), or a PhotoShop image that looks like hand-drawn art. Of course, I can use clip art or stock photos too.
Infections in Medicine
In 1997 I wrote a column called "Medicine on the Net," for the journal Infections in Medicine. I researched the websites available in a specific therapeutic area, and reviewed these, recommending those most useful for physicians and other health care practitioners.
