Welcome to my web site. I'm Amelia L. Williams, PhD, professional writer and editor, poet and teacher, located in the Rockfish River Valley, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.
I have expertise in medical writing, grant and proposal writing, information design, social media and other business communication. See my Write/Edit pages to learn more about my professional background and specialties.
My poems are concerned with inner and outer wilderness, landscape, the “wild wood” of relationship, and the geology and natural history of human attachments. They often combine a strong sense of place with a playful tendency to fray the fabric of meaning just a little to see what "patina" can be achieved. ("Patina" is the name of my passive solar, timber-frame house). See my Poetry pages to learn more.
I also offer a blend of mindfulness-creativity practices that I call Wild Ink: The Art of the Trail: walks during which I guide participants in an experience that fuses mindfulness, sense of place, and inspiration through movement -- walking and creating along natural and urban trails.
In addition to information on my professional writing services, this site has poems, a blog, and links to resources for teachers and writers. If you’re a writer, an artist, a meditator, a teacher, a hiker/outdoor enthusiast, a storyteller, or a lover of poetry, please take your time and look around.
